Customer description:
The customer told us that scoring system of the school suddenly collapsed. No one was able to store or read data from the server. In addition, some time ago, strange noises were heard from the server. However, as the server kept on reading the data normally, no one paid attention to it, while the server was used continually. When the malfunction was discovered, the customer immediately contacted the computer company responsible for maintenance to repair the computer for them in the school. The computer company told the customer that there was something wrong with the hard drive and recommended the customer to contact the Company for consultation and data salvation. The Company was thought to be trustworthy as we possessed specialized equipment and engineers, and had helped government authorities and large companies to save and recover important data for a number of times.
Server information:
Array: RAID 5 (consist of 6 Seagate 3TB hard drives)
Among others, magnetic heads of two of the hard drives were malfunctioned, while the disks were scratched. The conditions were very serious.
Recovery process:
The Company immediately answered relevant questions of the customer after receiving its call. After that, a confidentiality agreement was entered into. All the hard drives were taken to the Company for detailed inspection. RAID5 of server of the customer consisted of six hard drives. After detection, we discovered that magnetic heads of two of the hard drives were malfunctioned, which resulted in failure to normally read data stored in the hard drives. The Company's dust-free environment was unique in Macao, and through it the engineers opened the two hard drives respectively for detailed detection. It was discovered that disk within one of the hard drives was serious scratched; disk within the other hard drive was scratched at medium level. The conditions were very severe. RAID 5 is characterized by the fact that it only allows for malfunction of one hard drive each time. Now two of the hard drives ran into problems at the same time. And they had the same problem: Scratch of disks. Fortunately, the Company has been highly specialized in hard drives with disk being scratched. Finally, we used technologies developed by ourselves to rescue special database in the array. The effect of data recovery was satisfying. We succeeded in helping the customer to recover approximately 95% of the data. The Company lent hard drives to the customer to store and duplicate data because the amount of data involved was gigantic, and time limit for the school was tight. As a result, we helped the customer to save time for duplicating data with their own hard drives, and solve the problem of using the data within very tight time limit. The customer was pleased with our service attitude.
Reminders:
In case of malfunction of storage device and the need for data recovery, you are advised not to try reading the data again by keeping the computer and hard drive on, for this may cause further damage to the storage device and reduce the success rate of data salvation. You are advised to immediately send the storage device to professional data recovery companies for data salvation. Further damage to the storage device may cause the data unable to be salved.
